About

A second generation cabinetmaker, Nick Teply, native to Bavaria in Germany, first developed an appreciation of quality craftsmanship and fine furniture during his training to become a traditional cabinetmaker in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (Germany) in the mid. 80’s.

Following some years of employment as a cabinetmaker, he decided to pursue his interests in the restoration and conservation of fine furniture and wooden objects of art by completing three years of full time study at the state accredited Goering Institute of Restoration and Conservation of Wooden Objects in Munich( http://www.restaurierung-goering.de ) to become a fully qualified, state accredited furniture restorer and conserver.

Since moving to Australia in 1996 Nick has worked for some of the leading
Antique dealers and Furniture Restorers in Sydney as well as managing the restoration, conservation and finishing workshop for Original Finish.( http://www.originalfinish.com.au ).

Nick opened his own workshop in St. Peters, Sydney in 2002 and has continued to lovingly restore a wide range of furniture.

Nick believes that a piece of furniture has a story to tell and that this unique history should be preserved during the restorative and conservative process.
